Platt Electric Supply is an industry leader when it comes to training its people.
Platt University, located at the Branch Support Center, was established in 1988
as a self-contained learning center dedicated to the personal growth and continuous
improvement of all Platt people.
“I believe the strength of our company is built on the foundation of our people,
our values, and our ability to learn,” said Gary Ewer, Platt’s Director of Education.
Armed with their motto “A Desire to Improve,” Ewer and other Platt instructors train
Platt people in all areas of customer service, including: leadership, problem solving,
and team building, as well as practical business concepts.
“Consistent training for our people,” says Ewer, “Ensures our customers the highest
level of service and product knowledge throughout our multi-branch network.”

The university offers more than just a classroom setting. “With the diverse learning
styles of adults, we are constantly developing new programs that incorporate both
academic and experiential learning. Many of our classes award college credit toward
degree completion,” Ewer adds. Many courses are now available online 24 hours a
day, seven days a week.
Viewed as a model for other companies, Platt University is on the leading edge of
workforce development.
“The future at Platt is an educated workforce,” states Ewer. “We are committed to
providing quality learning opportunities to our people, with the goal of exceeding
the expectations of our customers.”
